`A' KHATA - BBMP to start collecting development charge in Bangalore:

Those seeking `A' khatas for their properties in the city's revenue pockets don't have to wait any longer. BBMP will commence collection of the development fee from now. The move is expected to fetch the Palike a revenue of Palike a revenue of over 500 crore and will give people lawfulownership of properties. Till now, it had been facing technical glitches due to the pendency of the Akrama Sakrama scheme.
On Monday, BBMP commissioner M Lakshminarayana is sued a circular to his officers to start collecting development charge from the owners of undivided, single residential layouts, which were earlier approved by the deputy commissioner.
“Many of these properties were in a limbo because of Akrama Sakrama and we had approached the high court. We will not high court. We will no issue `A' khatas to such proper ties. Only owners of undivide properties in revenue pocket can pay up the development charges,“ said I Ramakanth deputy commissioner, revenue BBMP. The facility applies only to BDA-approved layouts.
